Report: | This was the clash of the early pace setters against the division new 'old' boys.1st up was 4 n 5 on the night-CRAB n LEGS.At 4 CRAB wraped up a routine 3-0 in double quick time, not giving his opponent a sniff! While LEGS started smartly taking the 1st to one point n 2nd to eight, we could see from the balcony,he was up against a tricky n wristy BANDANAMAN who might just cast enough doubt in his mind to sneak a win! Although LEGS lost the 3rd he managed to close out the 4th leaving us guessing if he was really cruising!!Following on was 1n2 SCOTSMAN n TINSKI.SCOTSMAN was matched against PTaylor-him of the 'England Junior' pedigree who had not conceeded a game in his previous 4 matches! On the night EJMAN showed his class, firing in nicks and delicate drops to show SCOTSMAN that expeirence n determination cannot stop the march of time!3-0 to EJMAN again. Meanwhile TINSKI had his hands full with an unauthordox opponent who limped around between points yet moved like grease lighting during rallies!!TINSKI boasts worked well in the opening 2 games but in the 3rd -true to his name, the tin kept getting in the way of some otherwise perfect drops n boasts! Suddenly TINSKI looked in danger. With a mixture of good courtcraft n cocentration n luck TINSKI closed out LIMPMAN. Now the mtch was won MACHINE at 3 was left to gain 3 more points for the team. This was a strange encounter of the strangly weird kind! MACHINE opponent had arrived earlier in his 'Evil Kenevil'outfit holding his helmet under his armpit-we all asumed that he did have a bike outside!! As MACHINE served to start the mtch, he faced an opponent with a Chelsea football top and a Nadal style trackie bottom topped off with green socks n blue sqsh shoes!!!! Whether this had an effect on MACHINE we dont know but he was 2-0 down n fighting hard.NADALMAN in the 3rd seemed to run out of steam n allowed MACHINE to dictate-MACHINE was back in the mtch. MACHINE somehow squeezed the 4th and we were into a 5th humdinger! On the balcony this was wicked entertainment-with NADALMAN asking for strange lets n disapearing from the court mid-game in the 5th, sticking his fingers up to the REF!Apparently he had caught his opponent rckt with his LEFTHAND n one of his finger was bleeding!!No one on the balcony heard a request to leave the court-this gave the audience time to replenish their drinks! The REF was still looking puzzled!!NADALMAN eventually returned(frm hospital-joke) n battled to a gallant defeat by MACHINE who had steam coming out his ears from keeping his coooool!!Grt mtch. Good luck for rest of season Horley-good fun. Well done colets3 solid start-lets keep it going. |
