Report

Report:This encounter contained three five setters the final match of which decided the outcome. Dave 'sorry I'm late' Wallond battled it out with Paul who scurried around the court retrieving well, but Dave after a day relaxing at the zoo had too much guile, cunning, and surprisingly, stamina. Despite a couple of hard games the junior of the team Mike Neale wasn't up early enough to keep up with the speedy Richard who has notched up some impressive wins recently, and on a cold court the ball just didn't sit up enough. Mike McElhatton typically battled hard to contain the wiley Terry, and it could have gone either way. David Greatorex battled it out manfully with the uncompromising Merv 'the swerv' (his team mates rather unkindly have another nickname for him), but Merv ran out of steam towards the end. The final match would decide the outcome with Peter Richardson up against Shane. Pete just wasn't there for the 1st game having completed a marathon of marking for which he requested 20% discount on the match fees (no chance!), but from the 2nd game on he controlled the match with some accurate placement, and spectacular nicks from the back of the court that brought gasps from the gallery. Some excellent squash from both teams, but the accolades go to the Woking youngsters who on the day popped the top team's bubble.
