| Report: | Well this match should have been a must win with colets3 pushing hard for an unlikely promo to DIV1!!! Results in the last week by the clubs around us has made that possibility almost impossible. So all we could do was push on. The usual suspects for colets3 were in attendance. GLOVE at 2 went on and came off almost as quick! A winning weekend gaining his 1st o45Masters England CAP seemed to have distracted him!! He lost 3-0. Bad start. However MACHINE at 3 came to the rescue and put in a ruthless display dispatching his opponent 3-0. Back on track. Nxt GREYFOX at 4 n FATMAN at 1 had contrasting games. GREYFOX did what he does best-soak up the pressure and then return it in spades.His slowly imploding opponent, tried everything but could not figure out why he was winning most of the rallies but losing the majority of points! GREYFOX cunningly reeled in his prey-3-0. 2-1 up n FATMAN took on an equally gifted player but one that moved more efficiently n looked slightly fitter! At 1-1 in games FATMAN made his push to go 2-1, but losing that game 10-12 gave his opponent the confidence to close out the rubber 3-1. Match standing at 2-2 our fate was in the hands of one of colets juniors- THEFOZ. Coming in at 5 THEFOZ knew he had to win-I TOLD HIM SO!No pressure. Having scraped the 1st n settled into a solid rythm to take the 2nd, all looked cool. Then the wheels came off. His experienced foe started to get into THEFOZ head. Talking, slow delaying tactics, a few physical brushes in the back corners all made THEFOZ forget how he had won the 1st two games(hitting long then boasting or droping) n was now drawn into a scrap fest. With a little smile on his face THEFOZ opponent craftly won game 3 n 4 and had the momentum. This was were the colets3 CAPT made his tactical chat.THEFOZ went back on and showing more positive ambition quickly showed that he had the potential to think his way out of difficulty. He just needs to be more aware and believe in his game.THEFOZ 3-2 n match to colets3 3-2. The points between the teams from 2nd place down to 4th is tight, so watch this space to see who goes up with Purley1. One match to go against Surbiton1-good luck Reigate1 for rest of seanon. |
