| Report: | With Sutton losing first 2 rubbers (3 and 4) it looked that all was lost. Tim Cox then fought hard to win respect for Sutton by beating Joe Mack, more than 20 years his junior. It then relied on Phil Burton to make it even for the home side. This did not look good as he easily lost the first game 9-1 and then was well down in the second. Phil dug in deep, again his senior years being tried against the youngster Dan Amos. Winning the very tight second game 10-8 seemed to deflate Dan and Phil built up some steam taking the last 2 games 9-3 and 9-2. Sutton manged to turn the match around with 2 rubbers all, but Horley claimed the points with the 2 extra games they won. |
