Report: | I was hoping to say Sutton did itself proud tonight as we put out our strongest side of the season. I am still going to say we did ourselves proud as we put up a strong fight against the strongest team in the league. Luke Taylor the stand in Sutton number one was nearly the first player this season to take a game off Ollie Bate, being 8-7 up in the first game. Luke blinked and Ollie snuck in to take all three games. Luke was on par with Ollie other than Ollie's amazing ability to punsih even the slightest loose ball. Before this game started Tim Cox and Dan Wells kicked off...I'll come back to that later. Sutton's new fresh and young number two bounced on the court to face Spencer's Adam. 18 minutes later he snuck off with just 3 points. Ironically Rory played well and pushed Adam on many rallies, but Adam was just too strong at finishing. Tim Cos was still playing Dan on court 1...I'll come back to that. So the Sutton number four walks on. Mike did better than Rory, he got 4 points from 3 games. Nick would do any teams number one proud in this division. So 3 matches down and no games for Sutton and a total of 16 points in in 12 games, just over one point per game. With all games finished Tim and Dan were still slogging it out. At 2 games all and Tim leading 8-6 in the final game it looked like Surrey would earn thier first win...only a simple drop shot and Tim was there...he missed and once more Spencer mopped up the game and a whitewash. One comforting thought is that I know we wont be playing them next year. |
