Report

Report: What a great jovial bunch of old farts who are obviously sponsored by Neoprene, Sorbothane & Mr Kipling. The order of play had to be reconfigured as a number of the away team had to 'unfold' before gracing us with their presence. Paul was clearly distracted by the lovely Sandra in yet another new outfit, the see through skirt attracting a packed gallery, picking up the first game with ease. Paul had a team talk between games, regaining his focus to win the second. However Sandra found her form with some great drops from the back and disguised lobs to win the match 3-1. Paul Camp (grizzly adams for November) got off to a flying start again Al Murray's twin brother Keith at 4, only to have a complete melt down when 2 games up, to lose the next 9-0 by preferring to hit the tin on a consistent basis from anywhere on the court, which cost him £5 for the pleasure. After a team talk at 2-2 he regained his confidence to keep Keith at the back of the court to stop those awful dinky shots to win 3-2. Chris had a true vintage style game, which Geoff Howes would be proud of, against the rotund Terry. Terry had some beautiful moments of genius but his breathing and stomach problems (internal & external, not helped after a trip to Egypt)impeded his performance to lose 3-0. Vittorio, the peter pan of colets, outclassed Mark with ease, floating the ball from all four corners, whilst introducing those killer boasts to clinch a suspicious 9-4 9-4 9-4 that the Pakistani Cricket would be proud of. Lastly the great finale from the #1's where Ron is the only member of the team that actually attempts to run round the court, maybe due to his bionic leg. Colin & Ron have had some great battles in the past, but Colin was too much for Ron, reading Ron's experienced Vet like touch from front to back to work Ron hard, to a point where he was watching Colin's out of character lobs from a distance, mouthing expletives. Colin won convincingly in 3. We then all ajourned to the bar where the old boys were certainly more at home running up a record bar tab for the season. They were then off home to Mark's pad for a cheese board and port, as in their eyes at midnight the night was still young!
