| Report: | Cheam were looking really good for a 5-0 whitewash, then against all expectations, Colets turned up ...in force !
The first match went on, ...and then came off again equally as quickly with Paul showing Dan how to play 27 wining boast shots, ....in succession ! Bob and Billy had a couple of very close games, then Bob worked out what he had to do (win) which he duely did. The 2 doyens stepped on court, with Mr Leaguemaster eventually overcoming Cheam's Chairman by 3 games to 1 (Unfortunately Tom's nickname is becoming more of "The Sofa" than a Chair !)
Beauty and the Beast went on court, with Cheam's number 1 being ever the Gentleman to let Ali win by a distance ...very well played.
So finally,...the last game of the evening, with nothing to play for other than pride ...(more like London Pride)...all the spectators were treated to an exhibition of power hitting by Steve that made him cruise to a 2-0 lead. The drinks were already being served in the bar, the food was being served in expectation of Dave Coley's iminent capitulation,...then the worse thing happened,...Steve lay down, got his tummy tickled by Cheam's secret weapon and the match eventually went to 5 ...when Dave did cave in ....he could have saved us all a 20 minute wait !
A very enjoyable evening all round, well done to the Colets boys and girls and good to see Dilwyn (or was it Dilbert,) again ... get back on court soon. |
