Report

Report: Another wasted Monday evening for the woefuls of Warlingham. Gary , at 1st string is always eager to get on early and he started well. By the end of the 3rd however he was looking in need of some help. Taking his lead from other more senior members of Warlingham, he decided playing better squash was not an option, but conning his opponent was. So he walked out to the car park, noted Mark's reg no. and came back in, flashed his warrant card and told Mark his two bald tyres would cost him a grand a piece in fines. He went on to win comfortably in 5. Surprise surprise. Meanwhile at 5, Richard was playing his first match for the club - very nervous. After a slow start he worked his way into the game but he couldn't quite work Katherine out - neither could the rest of us, mainly because she came with one chap and left with another. Say no more! Gary (no knees Jacobs) who spends his days up in dark lofts and behind smelly boilers, found the going tough after such a long lay off, while Simon's daughter there to watch him, went home early in disgust at her fathers performance. As she left with her mum Mandy she was heard to say - mummy, you told me daddy could play squash, - twas but another fairy tale. Ray started well ( yet again) and slowly but surely went down in 3 against a fine shot player. While Ray needs a bit of meat on him and a lower centre of gravity, Gavin will have no problems in this respect. He beat anorexia many many moons ago. The best match was saved until last as Paul (octopus arms) Masters took on a man 20 years younger, but with even less hair on his head. This gave Rob a distinctive aerodynamic advantage. While the score would suggest otherwise, it was in fact, a very even match, with many fine rallies, of which the majority were won by Rob. A fitting end to a decent evening of squash. Good luck with your promotion challenge - and remember, we helped you get there!
