Report: | A first victory for the Warlingham woefuls, in a close fought match that could have gone either way. Athletic Rob went down in 4 to Gary, although there must be something wrong here. It is the oldies who are supposed to fade as the game goes on, and in the 4th Rob gave the tin on court two a severe testing. Eric pulled off a win in five having taken his usual rest in the third, but dumping clear winners in the tin on frequent match balls in the 4th. He then clawed ( and talked) his way out of a 2-7 deficit in the 5th to come back with the win. Meanwhile Marc on court two was having a run around with Freddy and Marc's young legs came out on top. James went off like a train against John leading 6 -1 and in total control, until John woke up from his slumbers, and came alive for the rest of the match. Chris showed his usual amazing dexterity in avoiding any sort of backhand shot and kept us up on the balcony until 10.30 until he finally managed a win against the accomplished skills of Shahid. Good match, and good bumch of folk. |
