Report: | A painful start to the year for the Warlingham Woefuls. It was especially so as there must be a severe case of Alzheimer's at Cannons. The dementia is so far gone and the short term memory loss so poor, they all need their names on the back of their shirts to remember who they are. They needn't have bothered. They are all eminently forgetable. First up was Bobby at No.1. His play was impressive, his girth even more so. Must have had a lot of chocolate for Christmas! Meanwhile the cunning and crafty Mike was giving Marc a wee squash lesson on court 1. Dave pushed Gil( but not hard enough - crunch him against the wall next time) and Ray had an epic battle with Emmet, and just managed to play enough decent shots ( as well as some very poor ones)to take the energy out of his opponents legs for a victory in 5. James put up a good show against a rather lame Ian, and should have taken a couple of the games but Ian's superior squash skills came through in the end. So to the bar where Bobby downed his usual 6 or 7 scotches , dulling the pain of carrying such a tub of lard round his gut. Just to emphasise the memory loss, Mike turned again the next day and received a mullering for his forgetfulness. A good evening - apart from the squash. |
