Report: | Oh what a dire evening for the Woefuls of Warlingham. First up was the human wardrobe. He went to 5 against a wee whippersnapper, who couldn't play squash , but boy could he run. Eventually the wardrobe opened his doors and my goodness are they wide, and prevented the young runner getting through in the 5th. Meanwhile on court one our resident bionic man with more metal in his hips than you will find on a space shuttle went down in 4 to Matt, who very unsportingly was made up of all natural material. With
Plod going down to Dave in 4, the last two matches were crucial. Nick, playing his first match for the club having being called up at 4.30 on the day proceeded to get to match ball in the third but it was not to be. Roberto's better technique ( but not fitness ) saw him through in 5. So to the preening peacocks at number 1 - and boy did they preen! To mis quote Winston, never have so few, hit such soft shots, to the viewing of so many. However the Octopus with his long tentacles scrapped back Martin's neat drops and finally won through. The balcony was bored shitless. Only because it went to 10 -9 in the 5th and prevented many more beers to be sunk, but it was a highly entertaining, if an alcohol free match. So a 3-2 victory to Farnham, and a great nights squash. It is these sort of matches which we so enjoy, good competitive squash, good sportsmanship and good beer. A perfect evening - bar the result, sod it !!!!!!!!!
