Report: | Goodness me, finally a win against all the old culprits of Cheam. Can we play Cheam every week? Rod, only in the team to prevent Eric from being the oldest there, got off to a good 3-0 against Naveed while on court 1 our resident human wardrobe, was playing Dave whose body, pumped up with steroids, did him no good at all. Stick to the beer Dave. Much tastier. The Big Woose then gave the rather subdued Andy a lesson in drop shots, which he has learned after watching Eric's DVD. The Octopus was rather slow out of his undersea cave, against a strong looking Tom, and while he never quite got to grips with the game, it has to be said that Tom played some very cultured squash. Nothing cultured at first string though. Average rally length 4 or less. It normally takes the oppos just the knock up to work out that Eric moves as fast as a 3 legged tortoise and has the turning circle of a supertanker but it took Steve until halfway through set 3. Must have been a slow learner way back in primary school. Still trying to catch up!!! A good evening against a decent bunch of guys and we look forward to the return as our final match of the season. |

Away Report: | Well .... As it is the season of goodwill goodwill, the mighty high flying birds of Cheam inexplicably decided to extend this to the squash players of Warlingham. It was concluded in the bar afterwards, that never before in the history of Surrey Squash, that a club could put out a team with an average age of 60 and a mass weight nearing that of a blue whale, but not only did Eric and his merry band of followers do that, but they ripped the very hearts out of the Cheam boys, who up until then were happy with mid table mediocrity. Well done to Warlingham, and looking forward to March. |
