Report: | Whilst the result was surprising for some (one of our team mates not playing turned up at 9.15 expecting to see some squash), we can console ourselves with the fact that everyone sweated due to the nature of the sweltering heatwave within which we played
The cod went on first, and came off shortly thereafter. There were a few dodgy calls, but no challenges
The cobra was on next, I didnt see any of it, but he told me he'd won, which I found to be untrue once I got the scoresheet
I took on Rufus, I say took on, I mean I ran about after him for a very short period. At one point I thought I was going to win a game, but the cod had got the scoring the wrong way round, which was somewhat of a disappointment
Lacky played Mike (in sweatband - Mike not Jon), and Mike was unlucky on the shot of the day, to have to accept a very sportsmanlike let because Jon couldn't believe it had stayed in (it had). Jon followed this behaviour by smashing the return and winning serve back. only to lose it immediately back. Hubris one would imagine.
Really nice bunch of lads, in desperate need of a curry, but probably too strong for us this season |
