England Squash Foundation Surrey Gold
08 Feb 2019

Hello Lovely Surrey Squash People,

You may have heard a whisper about a forthcoming event that Surrey Squash are hosting?

On the 16-18 February we are holding the inaugural England Squash Foundation Surrey Gold Junior event at a number of our clubs.

Forgive me if I am stating the obvious but this is a biggy in ES Junior tournaments. It's been too long since there was a major event like this in the south.

A Gold ranking event is a mandatory one for players who wish to be considered for National Team Selection. There will be the highest ranked players from all over the country, some already in the England Team.
If squash EVER becomes an Olympic sport - these guys will be representing Team GB!

We have been awarded the tender for this brand new event for 2 years minimum.
As such, we want it to be good!  And we want it to become a permanent fixture on the ES calendar.

So, in order to helps things run smoothly, I'm here to appeal to you all (and to anyone else you can persuade from your clubs!!).

We will have only a limited number of ES referees volunteering for the weekend. (We unfortunately clash with the British Nationals and British Masters Nationals)

This means that some of the junior players will have to mark the matches following their own.
But, obviously, we will need to get the matches started first thing in the morning at some venues.
So we need some volunteers to help get the matches going on each day, as below.

SATURDAY:- Sandown, Surbiton and Wimbledon Racquets. All 10.00am starts.
SUNDAY:- Sandown and Surbiton. 09.00am
MONDAY:- Sandown and New Malden. 09.00 am

If you are able to come along and mark the first matches on each day, that would be an enormous help. (If you'd like to stay on for a while and do some more, even better!)
But your help with the first matches would be very, very ,very gratefully received.
And of course, you'll get a cuppa or two!

In effect, as a Surrey squash player, this is YOUR event too! So do please come along and get involved. And at the very least, watch some pretty impressive matches.

COME ON SURREY - YOUR COUNTY NEEDS YOU ! 👍

Could you please let me know asap (if not sooner !!) if you CAN OR CANNOT help out and if you can help, at which venue.

The main Finals are on Monday 18th at Epsom college, with the trophy presentations straight after the U19 matches.

The playoffs are at Sandown, New Malden and Wimbledon Racquets, in the morning from 09.00am.

Please do come along and see the culmination of 3 days of awesome squash!

Thank you!

Kind regards,
Julie Chappell.
