“Thank you. Thank you everyone. We stared into a lonely abyss, Simon’s glasses were steaming, Lynchies beard got curlier, Cap’n Aims bald patch gleamed brighter and Coolios comb over danced like a gossamer trestle. This was not an individual effort by any means. Parky was distinguished in receiving his wooden spoon with grace, who could forget the head bands, the flappy trainers... the sulks at the bottom of court 4’s stairs. No this was a team. A worthy 5th team. I can’t thank everyone here, but you know who you are. Stand up team.. stand up [clap] [clap]
I would like to thank my socks for giving me superb service throughout. When I thought all was lost my socks held firm and I did’nt need to darn them. I would like to thank the legion of racket stringers, who without the right tensions, we would not have made it. Finally, I would like to thank our fans who tirelessly read through the match reports without complaint, and particularly our Mens captain Paul Ekins.. Yes.. stand up Paul.. you inspired our prose as much as our squash. Thank you. Let's put our hands together....!!
