Report: | A Close fought game ended with Colets running out worthy winners. First on was Karl who after a poor first game got into his stride in the next 2 then teased his opponent with a 10-8 in the 4th. 1st blood to Ashtead. Meanwhile I was being given the runaround by Vittorio but perhaps helped by the fact I've been off the sauce for a few weeks I was able to hang on in there and sneak a 3-2 victory. 2-0 to Ashtead but I am sick of Brittberg... Gazza then took on Dillwyn who troubled the scorer with his name. Unfortunately Gazza didn't trouble the scorer at all and Dil romped to a 3-0. Game back on : 2-1.
On court 4 Vanno was left to rue that his opponent "won the big points"-if that applies to 4th string game in Surrey Vets league division 3....
So, 2-2 and down to the battle of the 1sts. Nip and tuck in the 1st game which Bazza won but then Nick seemed to have the edge winning the next 2 and importantly gaining 2 game balls in the fifth but Baz wasn't beaten and with an elegant scoop, sorry shot he held on for 10-9 to take it to the fifth. Quality shone through and Baz held his nerve and won the fifth. By this time it was early Monday morning and the Colets lads left faster than you could say Good Game Mister Grimsdale...
Cheers, Jimbo |
