Report: | Steve's opponent was Doug Sheperdigian but I couldn't get him on the pull down list. This was the first match on court.
with Steve indicating he hadn't played for some weeks and may well be a bit rusty... but once the cobwebs were blown off he found all the right shots to overcome Doug - who could have been a very dangerous player. More about my game later. Simon and Keith were on court as I was marking Steve's game(so I missed much of this encounter) but judging by the result Simon proved too strong for Keith on this occassion.
Michael and Torben were on next (once again I missed much of this one too) Michael covered the court very well judging by the few rallies I did see and for once he came through without having to go to 5th game.
And so to the captains match, Maan comfortably took the 1st game. But I managed to pinch the 2nd to draw level, I took that momentum to then take the 3rd. I was starting to feel very tired at this point but I was hoping that Maan was equally tired. I started giving away too many strokes which may have made all the difference, and despite some very helpful tips from Steve between games my tank was empty by the end and Maan took the next 2 games to win 3-2. That makes it 1-1 in the head to head.
The afternoon was slightly let down by the bar not opening... but I expect all of our wives/partners must have been pleasantly surprised (or shocked as mine was!!) at our early return.
I've changed the match date so that the remaining string match can be entered...Harriet |
