| Report: | With the return of the "Hammer" we had hoped that our luck would change - although Ex-Capt the Cobra, was extremely annoyed at being left out after his outstanding win last week - blame the new captain - however that was not to be the case
A return of another old boy - Gavlar - resulted in a harsh lesson for the Hammer, who perhaps on reflection needs more match practice. Having said that it was a pleasure to see his fake shots make a welcome return on the NM courts.
Clarkey playing at 3 could hardly get a word in edgeways with Will chattering on the whole time - and it was clear that Clarkey found this off-putting whilst he was stamping all over the court trying to deaden the chat. I didn't actually see this game - but I am reliably informed that members from Limpsfield could keep up with the commentary from their club, such was the noise.
I took the game to Ben immediately, with a combination of putting the ball where he least expected it (on his racquet) and some drop shots below the halfway line. Anyway once he realised my strategy he quickly went on to win. This was only soured by an awful call from a much out of practice Hammer, at match point against, when he called my serve down.
And much to Bambers shock, he was actually allowed a few points from Zeb this time, which we're not sure was down to Zebs stomach bug or the fact that the kitchen had already shut and therefore there was no real hurry to finish
